FIFA World Cup Trophy in Dhaka,Bangladesh


FIFA World Cup Trophy will be displayed at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel instead of Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka City on Wednesday and Thursday.

The display venue had been changed due to security reasons, Coca-Cola Bangladesh’s Public Affairs Officer Shamima Akhter told to Habib:

With a gap of a few days, BNP-led 18-Party alliance have started enforcing the fourth 72-hour blockade from 6am on Tuesday, hours before the trophy reached the city.

As part of the World Cup campaign, FIFA’s Official partner Coca-Cola brought it to Bangladesh on Tuesday noon.One line of FIFA World Cup theme song added Bengalee song.

The trophy will be kept at the hotel on the Airport Road for three nights, Shamima Akhter added.She also toid me that it was a special day for Bangladesh.

The trophy was to be displayed at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday for visitor’s.

Fans were told that they could pose with the trophy for photo shoot during the display.

Friendly matches and cultural functions were also to be held .

For this, 9000 fans would be given tickets through lottery and 6000 others involved with football in various capacities would get complimentary entry, they added.

The trophy will leave Dhaka for Bhutan at 9:30am on Friday. It will tour 89 countries in 267 days.

The trophy had begun its tour round the world from Rio De Janeiro in Brasil.After the end of tour trophy will tern to Brasil.
